Mr. Moreland completed his undergraduate studies at both St. Johns College, Oxford University, Oxford, England, and Birmingham Southern College, Birmingham, Alabama, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Cum Laude, in the fields of Religion and History. Mr. Moreland attended Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida. During his studies at F.S.U., Mr. Moreland was a member of Moot Court, and was President of the Legal Honors Fraternity of Phi Delta Phi.
Over the course of 38 years, he has practiced in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, and Orlando. Prior to founding Moreland & Mendez, P.A., Mr. Moreland was the Director of the Workers' Compensation Department at Eubanks, Hilyard, Rumbley, Meier & Lengauer, P.A. Mr. Moreland is a member of The Florida Bar, with memberships in the Elder Law, Workers' Compensation, and Administrative Law Sections. He is also an active member in the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) and licensed to practice before the Middle District Federal Court.
Mr. Moreland has been an adjunct professor at Valencia Community College, teaching political science and U.S. Government. Mr. Moreland actively participated in pro bono cases and the OCBA Guardian Ad Litem Program. He is also very active with his local Boy Scout troop serving as Assistant Scout Master for over 15 years. Mr. Moreland was born in Winter Haven, Florida, and is proud to be a seventh generation Floridian.
Ms. Celia Marie Mendez graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with Honors, in Economics and Business Administration. At Rollins College, she was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society and the Sigma Delta Pi Omicron Nu Honor Society. She attended Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida and was President of Phi Delta Phi Honor Society and was an officer of the Spanish American Law Student Association. After graduation she worked at the First District Court of Appeals, under Judge Ford L. Thompson, completing judicial memorandum and conducting extensive legal research in support of the opinions rendered by the Court. After her years at the 1st DCA, Ms. Mendez was associated
Francis Xavier Mendez graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, in Economics and Business Administration, May of 1989. At Rollins College, he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity as well as several other clubs. He attended Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida and worked as an editor for Continuing legal education for the Florida Bar and interned with the Department of Financial Regulations. He graduated in December of 1992 and was an officer of the Spanish American Law Student Association.
After graduation he joined the firm of Moreland & Mendez, P.A. Moreland & Mendez, P.A., which limits its practice to workers' compensation litigation and servicing the general business needs of employers, insurance carriers, and trust funds throughout Florida. In 2001, Francis Mendez expanded his practice to include real estate litigation and transactional work in both residential and commercial areas. Since then, he has concentrated his practice exclusively on Real Estate litigation and transactional work along with Estate Planning. He has assisted people and business through the process of purchase and sale of residential and commercial transactions as well as foreclosure defense work and loan modifications. Mr. Mendez is a member of The Florida Bar and is licensed to practice before the Middle District Federal Court.
Mr. highly involved in his Catholic Church of St. Francis of Assisi. He served as a board member with Annunciation Catholic Academy and volunteered with the Catholic Youth League. Mr. Mendez was born in Pennsylvania, is fully bilingual in English & Spanish, and has been a resident of Central Florida for over 53 years. Most importantly, Mr. Mendez is the very proud father of two beautiful and bright children and is currently an empty nester.
